Tips and Tricks

If you are looking to stay mentally active and keep your brain healthy, here are a list of tips and tricks to do just that!

Improve Memory

If you want to improve your memory, some activities include:

  • Be physically active every day

  • Spend time with others

  • Stay organized

  • Sleep well

  • Eat a healthy diet

  • Manage chronic health problems

If you're worried about memory loss, make an appointment with your healthcare provider.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly has many benefits for the brain. For example, physically active people are less likely to be overwhelmed and less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease.

Being active also increases blood flow to your brain and can fight back against some of the brain connections that are reduced during aging.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is an essential factor for your brain health. Some theories state that sleep can help clear irregular proteins in your brain and strengthen memories, increasing overall memory and brain health.

If you have a good sleep schedule, it will improve your memories and store them properly.

Get Socially Involved

Being socially involved helps fight off depression and stress, which is a prime factor in memory loss. Try to connect with loved ones, family members and friends.

Doing so will help prevent cerebral atrophy, which is the loss of nerve cells and the connections that help them communicate in the brain's tissue. Cerebral atrophy is a symptom of Alzheimer's disease, traumatic brain injury, or infections.

Keep Your Blood Healthy

Although your blood vessels' health is essential to your overall health, it is also crucial for your brain. So check your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels regularly.

You should increase your physical activity, eat a balanced diet, and avoid tobacco and alcohol.
